If you are a journalist in Myanmar it’s maybe better, if you want to stay free, not to uncover a massacre. If you do uncover it you’ll be sentenced to seven year. That was the sentence handed down to two Reuter’s journalists on Sept. 3 for their work in covering the massacre of ten Rohinga Muslims by security forces.
The two journalists, Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, have been sentenced for breaking the under-silence official-secrets-act but after the sentence, surprisingly, the Myanmar authorities admitted the massacre. Apparently the State condemned the two Reuter’s reportes because of the risk of its brutal campaing against Muslims to be discovered worldwide.
