According to Italian press source Uffizi Gallery in Florence, one of the most important galleries in the world, is urging Germany to return an 18th-century Dutch Rococo painting stolen by the Nazis in the Second World War.

On Jan. 2, 2019 the director of the gallery, Eike Schmidt, put up a black and white print of Jan van Huysum’s Vase of Flowers in the room it had been admired in until 1943 with the label “stolen” (photo by ANSA). The German family who possess the work told the Uffizi’s direction they are available to sell tha work back, but the Gallery answered it must be returned free of charge.
